US drawing up Belarus sanctions after Ryanair plane diversion

Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “US drawing up Belarus sanctions after Ryanair plane diversion” – below is their description.

The White House is working on a list of targeted sanctions against members of the Belarusian government.

The move follows the forced landing of an EU passenger plane in Minsk and the arrest of a dissident journalist.

But Russian President Vladimir Putin has been hosting the Belarus leader in a show of support.

Al Jazeera’s Rory Challands reports.
