US criticises Turkish offensive in Syria

The US government says it is alarmed at increased fighting between Turkish and Kurdish forces in northern Syria.

Ashton Carter, the US defence secretary, is urging Turkey to stay focused on fighting ISIL and not to target Kurdish groups or the Syrian Democratic Forces.
