Security camera footage in Palmdale, California, shows two women running frantically across a supermarket parking lot, one of them carrying a limp, 11-month old boy, and seeking assistance from the Sheriff’s deputies on patrol. Deputy Cameron Kinsey recognized the child was in need of first aid and administered a mouth sweep with his finger and dislodged vomit that allowed the baby to breathe again and regain alertness.
The women had been at a protest in the nearby park when the baby got sick and lost consciousness. After the police officer’s intervention, doctors discovered that the baby had swallowed a coin which had blocked his airway. By turning the coin sideways during the sweep of his mouth, the police officer saved the 11-month old’s life.
