A committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot in Washington D.C. has heard its first day of testimony with police officers giving an emotional account of the violence faced on that day. Just two of the committee’s nine members are Republicans, as Democrats accuse the GOP of politicising the attack. Associate professor at Lancaster University Robert Gutsche explains to The World why there has been so much resistance from Republicans to investigate the riot.
