UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will speak to the media Monday after an informal leaders’ roundtable on climate action, to address major gaps on emissions targets and climate finance.

The closed-door meeting comes weeks before the climate summit in Glasgow, which is set to bring together leaders from a few dozen countries, representing both industrialized, emerging economies and developing countries.

The roundtable is an attempt to ensure a successful outcome at the U.N. climate conference from Oct. 31 to Nov. 12, which comes amid recent reports that have shown major economies are far off track on their emission reduction goals and climate finance commitments.
