UNGA 2020: US President Donald Trump says UN “must hold China accountable” for COVD-19 pandemic

Global News published this video item, entitled “UNGA 2020: US President Donald Trump says UN “must hold China accountable” for COVD-19 pandemic” – below is their description.

U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a virtual address at the United Nations meeting of world leaders on Tuesday, largely discussing COVID-19 and telling delegates the UN “must hold China accountable for their actions,” referring to the coronavirus outbreak. The president promised to distribute a COVID-19 vaccine, saying, “We will distribute a vaccine, we will defeat the virus, and we will end the pandemic” and enter a new era of “prosperity, cooperation and peace.” Trump, a frequent critic of the United Nations, also said that if the UN is to be effective, “it must focus on the real problems of the world.” “This includes terrorism, the oppression of women, forced labour, drug trafficking, human and sex trafficking, religious persecution and the ethnic cleansing of religious minorities,” he stated. The UN marked its 75th anniversary Monday with its chief urging leaders of an increasingly polarized, go-it-alone world to work together and preserve the organization’s most important success since its founding: avoiding a military confrontation between the major global powers.
