The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged Israeli security forces to show restraint in occupied East Jerusalem. He also expressed deep concern about Israel’s plan to expel Palestinian families from their homes in the city’s Sheikh Jarah district. Israel responded to international criticism of police violence by releasing video of Palestinians throwing rocks at police in riot gear at the al-Aqsa mosque and law enforcement firing stun grenades. The mosque has been a focal point for violence in recent weeks.
