The UN is facing a dilemma after the Myanmar junta and the exiled National Unity Government both submitted rival bids to fill the country’s vacant seat as permanent representative.

Chris Sidoti, a member of the Special Advisory Council on Myanmar, says the UN decision can add pressure on the military junta and lend support to the civilian government.
