UN Chief calls young peacekeepers to offer thanks

United Nations published this video item, entitled “UN Chief calls young peacekeepers to offer thanks” – below is their description.

Young peacekeepers deploy to some of the most dangerous parts of the world. Reaching out to them to express his appreciation, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said, “Not only you are giving a fantastic contribution to the peacekeeping operations, but you are playing a very important role in relation to the integration of young people in peace processes in the countries where you operate.”

The youth – one military, one police and one civilian – share what they have learned through the experience of serving in United Nations peacekeeping and why they encourage others to follow in their footsteps.

The UN Chief thanked the youth as he marked the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, traditionally observed on 29 May each year.
