Ukraine is now under a state of emergency that will last 30 days and it has called up reservists. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said late on Wednesday that he has sought a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but has received only silence. Speaking Russian, Zelenskyy made an emotional appeal to Russians to reject any support for “a major war in Europe.”
