UK under-30s offered alternative to AstraZeneca jab

Channel 4 News published this video item, entitled “UK under-30s offered alternative to AstraZeneca jab” – below is their description.

Under-30s in the UK are to be offered an alternative Covid vaccine to the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab.

It comes after 79 cases of rare blood clots were reported out of 20 million doses administered in the UK.

All cases of rare blood clots occurred after the first dose of the vaccine. Out of 79 cases, 19 people have died.

England’s deputy chief medical officer Prof Jonathan Van-Tam says the UK vaccination programme has been an “enormous success”, but that a “course correction” in now needed.

He was joined by Professor Wei Shen Lim, Chair of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), Professor June Raine, CEO of the MHRA, and Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed, Chair of the Commission on Human Medicines.
