Uk general election 2010 results: green party wins brighton pavilion 1Caroline Lucas, leader of the Green Party, has today made history by becoming the first Green Party MP after winning the Brighton Pavilion ward in the 2010 UK General Election by 1,252 votes from the holding Labour Party candidate.

  • Nancy Platts – Labour – 14,986
  • Charlotte Vere – Conservative – 12,275
  • Bernadette Milam – Liberal Democrat – 7,159
  • Nigel Carter – Independent – 948
  • Ian Fyvie – Socialist Labour Party – 148
  • Soraya Kara – Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality – 61
  • Leo Atreides – Independent – 19

Caroline Lucas increased the Green vote in this ward by 9.4% while the Labour candidate lost 7.5% from the 2005 election.
