Uk general election 2010 results: conservatives gain carlisle from labour 1The Labour Party have lost a strong seat in the North of England to the Conservative Party in the 2010 UK General Election as Conservative candidate John Stevenson claims the ward by a slim margin of 853 votes.

The Conservatives gained 5.9% on 2005, while Labour lost a huge 9.6% from the last election to produce the swing from Red to Blue.

  • Michael Boaden – Labour – 15,736
  • Neil Hughes – Liberal Democrat – 6,567
  • Paul Stafford – British National Party – 1,086
  • Michael Owen – UK Independence Party – 969
  • John Reardon – Green – 614
  • John Metcalfe – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition – 376
  • Peter Howe – Independent – 263
