UK General Election 2010: DUP Win Antrim North

The Democratic Unionist Party have won the seat of Antrim North in Northern Ireland in the 2010 UK General Election, with a majority of 12,558 from a turnout of 42,397.

  • Jim Allister – Traditional Unionist Voice – 7,114
  • Daithi McKay – Sinn Fein – 5,265

  • Declan O’Loan – Social Democratic & Labour Party – 3,738
  • Jayne Dunlop – Alliance Party – 1,368
  • Lyle Cubitt – Independent – 606

A strong Irish culture exists, as expressed through Gaelic games, Irish music and the Irish language. The island’s culture shares many features with that of Great Britain, including the English language, and sports such as association football, rugby, horse racing, and golf.
