Dr Susan Hopkins at the UK Health Security Agency told the BBC’s Andrew Marr that elderly and vulnerable people were starting to die from Covid due to the jab’s waning immunity. She said while the Covid booster rollout was going well she wanted to urge more people to come forward to get their top-up jabs. The scientist’s comment come after reports said Number 10 was concerned about hospital admissions and deaths among double-vaccinated people rising. This week health secretary Sajid Javid called for people to come forward for their third doses, stating that younger relatives should urge eligible parents and grandparents to take up the offer of a booster and the flu vaccine.
