Uganda is among African countries that have seen a dramatic rise in the number of coronavirus infections amid a severe vaccine shortage. The country is battling a resurgence of coronavirus infections, driven mostly by the delta variant. The government has tightened restrictions, closing schools, imposing a nighttime curfew and banning all nonessential travel.
