Uganda’s aggressive COVID win came at a cost

With its crumbling public hospitals, doctors’ strikes and corruption scandals, few would have predicted that Uganda would be a COVID-19 success story. But critics say the price may have been too high. Some pregnant women died in labor, unable to reach hospitals because of travel restrictions. Many jobs have been los and economic growth is set to plunge from 5.6% last year to just 0.4% this year, according to the World Bank.
