    The U.S. State Department issued a statement on Monday saying Japan appeared to have made the choice in line with international nuclear safety standards. It also commended Tokyo’s transparency. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is set to travel to Washington this week to meet with President Joe Biden.
