Chinese state broadcaster, CGTN, reported on the US FDA decision to allow Chinese-certified KN95 masks into the country for use as PPE, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says the agency will now allow imports of Chinese-made KN95 respirator masks. The announcement came on Thursday as the country experiences a severe shortage in protective gear for medical workers – and as the price of N95 masks have risen dramatically. The KN95 mask is designed to be the equivalent of the N95 and is of similar standard. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had previously included KN95 as an alternative to N95, along with other masks. But the FDA has not yet authorized the KN95 model under its Emergency Use Authorization.
