Bloomberg Quicktake: Now published this video item, entitled “U.K. Lifts Travel Restrictions for Fully Vaccinated Visitors From EU, U.S.” – below is their description.
Scores of travellers from across the European Union and the United States landed in the UK on Monday, no longer needing to quarantine on arrival.
The change, which came in early Monday, affects all those arriving from countries on the UK’s amber list – except for France.
At Heathrow Airport in London, David and Susan Handfield awaited the arrival of their son, daughter-in-law and their first granddaughter Charlotta, who was born in February in Berlin, Germany.
Becca Whyatt and her mother Kate could not stop laughing after being reunited.
Becca, who arrived from the US after being away for five years, described being back in the UK as “amazing”.
Airline bosses have welcomed the change in the rules but are calling for more countries to be added to the UK’s green travel list and for the cost of vaccines to come down.
“We need to see the cost of testing come down – that’s a big constraint on a lot of people from travelling, it can cost over a hundred pounds to have all the tests, so let’s move to a lateral flow test instead of that,” said Heathrow Airport CEO John Holland-Kaye.
He added that he’d like to “see the green list expanded. Let’s be confident in the vaccines, tests show they work against delta and beta variants.”Bloomberg Quicktake: Now YouTube Channel
