During nearly a decade in an aquarium, performing for audiences in China, two beluga whales were cut off from hearing any kind of call of the wild.
But for the first time since they were a couple of years old, Little Grey and Little White have been able to explore the natural surroundings off the coast of Iceland.
Admittedlty, they are not out in the open ocean and perhaps never will be, but from where they were fifteen months ago, it is quite a leap.

Hit hard by the worldwide financial crisis, the nation’s entire banking system systemically failed in October 2008, leading to an economic crisis and the collapse of the country’s three largest banks. By 2014, the Icelandic economy had made a significant recovery, in large part due to a surge in tourism.
Iceland has the smallest population of any NATO member and is the only one with no standing army, with a lightly armed coast guard.
