Two Asian women, aged 29 and 31, were attacked by a person wielding a hammer in New York on May 2, 2021, according to the NYPD. Authorities said the suspect demanded the victims remove their masks before lashing out with the hammer. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force, which released surveillance footage of the attack, is investigating the assault.
