A security camera footage caught the terrifying moment of a man narrowly escaping from concrete falling from a rooftop in Turkey’s western city of Izmir on Monday following a severe storm.
Pieces of concrete – believed to have been dislodged by high winds – fell from a building undergoing reconstruction and the man ducked out of the way seconds before the concrete smashed into a car he had been leaning against.
The strong winds caused sea waters to overflow, submerging a tram station and seafront roads.
Officials said at least four people died and dozens were injured as a result of the storm battering parts of western Turkey.
