U.S. President Donald Trump spoke Friday in New Hampshire about recent anti-racism protests in cities like Portland, Ore. and Kenosha, Wis., calling protesters “anarchists, agitators, rioters.” He said those participating “don’t even know who George Floyd is,” the 46-year-old Black man who died on Memorial Day in Minneapolis, Minn. after a police officer knelt on his neck for more than seven minutes.
Trump also spoke about protests that took place in Washington, D.C., as he gave his acceptance speech for the GOP nomination at the Republican National Convention on Thursday, saying those who attended walked out to a group of “thugs.” He also commended police officers escorting Sen. Rand Paul after a large crowd of protesters surrounded him. Paul claimed he was “attacked by an angry mob of over 100.”
