CNN, which is often quick to criticize President Trump, pointed out that Donald Trump initially “misrepresents” the position with regard to the US travel ban on Europe.
The clarifications were that the US would “suspend the entry of most foreign nationals, who have been in certain European countries at any point during the two weeks before their arrival in the United States” but noted “this doesn’t apply to legal permanent residents generally, other family members of residents, and other individuals identified in the proclamation.”
The President is heard to say “trade” would be affected in his announcement, but later on Twitter walked this back:
“The restriction stops people not goods.”
Countries where travel to the US is currently not restricted include the UK and Ireland – but, as above, anyone who has been to precluded countries within two weeks still will be denied access to the US.
