The 65-year-old is now a criminal justice reform advocate, who also spoke during the Republican National Convention on Thursday to talk about her release and praising Trump’s decision to sign a criminal justice reform bill, the First Step Act, into law.
Before signing the pardon, Trump said about Johnson, “we’re very proud of Alice and the job you’ve done and what you represent.” He then gave her the signed document, saying that “it’s a real honour.”
