U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to deliver remarks in Wilmington, N.C. from on board the WWII-era battleship U.S.S. North Carolina, as he designates Wilmington as the country’s first World War II Heritage City on Wednesday. U.S.S. North Carolina (BB-55) was the lead ship of the North Carolina class of U.S. Navy battleships in the Second World War. The ship was launched on 13 June, 1940 and decommissioned on 27 June, 1947. The U.S.S. North Carolina was hit by a torpedo in 1942, and saw action at the Battle of the Philippine Sea in 1944. President Trump earlier visited Kenosha, Wisc. on Tuesday, amid the anti-Black racism protests and shooting of Jacob Blake.
