Trump backs Biden’s transition process starting in ‘best interest of our country’

Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Trump backs Biden’s transition process starting in ‘best interest of our country’” – below is their description.

US President Donald Trump has told the General Services Administration and his team to proceed with the “initial protocols” of Joe Biden’s transition to the White House in “the interest of our country” but will keep fighting the election results. President Trump’s remarks didn’t deter his optimism about changing the outcome – declaring he believes he will “prevail”. “Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good fight, and I believe we will prevail!” President Trump said on Twitter. “Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same.” His remarks came after the General Services Administration sent a letter to President-elect Joe Biden. The federal agency, which oversees presidential transitions, announced it was allowing him to access resources. “I have the ability under the Presidential Transition Act of 1963, as amended, to make certain post-election resources and services available to assist in the event of a presidential transition,” Emily Murphy, the head of the General Services Administration, said. “I have determined that you may access the post-election resources and services described in Section 3 of the Act upon request. “The actual winner of the presidential election will be determined by the electoral process detailed in the Constitution.”
