Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canadian health officials are expected to provide an update Tuesday on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and the progress of the vaccination rollout.

Chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam and deputy chief public health officer Dr. Howard Njoo, Health Minister Patty Hajdu, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry François-Philippe Champagne and Public Services and Procurement Minister Anita Anand will also be in attendance.

Canada’s daily COVID-19 case counts have continued to fall to levels not seen since March, as provinces further expand vaccine eligibility to all adults and public health restrictions appear to be finally turning the tide.

In Ontario, all adults aged 18 and older in the province are now able to book an appointment for a vaccine and officials have promised enough supply will be made available to meet the increased demand.

Manitoba and Alberta, however, have both warned they are reaching new peaks for intensive care admissions.
