Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Wednesday that the Government of Canada will invest up to $1.53 billion to build the new green line LRT in Calgary. The Government of Alberta will contribute $1.53 billion and the City of Calgary is contributing $1.59 billion to the project.
“This fall construction on phase one of the LRT green line will begin in Calgary’s beltline and downtown” Trudeau announced.
In addition, the Prime Minister condemned the assasination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.
“I want to first express my utmost condemnation and horror at the assasination of President Jovenel Moïse in Haiti.
Trudeau also stated that Canada “will continue to be a close friend to the Haitian people, there to support, there to help, there as a partner.”
Earlier in the day Trudeau met with Alberta Premier Jason Kenney to discuss numerous issues including pipelines.
According to Trudeau “we did talk about pipelines… we mostly focused on TMX and the fact that it’s moving forward well.”
