Trudeau announces $10-a-day child care for Nunavut by 2024 | FULL

Global News published this video item, entitled “Trudeau announces $10-a-day child care for Nunavut by 2024 | FULL” – below is their description.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok are expected to make an early learning and child care announcement on Monday, joined by Families Minister Karina Gould, Northern Affairs Minister Dan Vandal and Nunavut Education Minister Pamela Gross.

Nunavut is the only territory in the country to not have signed an agreement with the federal government on the proposed $10-a-day child care plan so far, with Ontario being the only other jurisdiction yet to do so. Most agreements struck so far have promised to eventually decrease fees to $10 a day in five years’ time, as well as seeing fees cut in some provinces in 2022 and the expansion of child care spaces.

Nine provinces and two territories have reached agreements with the federal government to date, with discussions ongoing with both Nunavut and Ontario.
