    Tuesday marks one year since the high-profile death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Floyd, a Black man, was killed in May 2020 during an arrest, after then Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on the back of his neck for several minutes.

    The incident has sparked protests and a reckoning over racial injustice and police brutality all over the world. Chauvin has also been convicted of murder.

Video recording by a witness, showing Floyd repeating “Please”, “I can’t breathe”, and “Don’t kill me”, was widely circulated on social media platforms and broadcast by media. The incident led to widespread protests across the United States.
