The Treasurer has weighed in on the debate on who should be next to appear on our $5 note. Jim Chalmers believes Australians should be consulted on who could replace the Queen, with King Charles not necessarily the automatic choice. Mr Chalmers declined to suggest a suitable replacement. Preliminary discussions have begun between the government and Reserve Bank on potentially replacing the image of the monarch with a decision to be finalised within 18 months.
