Toronto Council meeting descends into swearing and chaos

RT published this video item, entitled “Toronto Council meeting descends into swearing and chaos” – below is their description.

The Jackie Weaver saga seems to have unleashed a wave of ‘officials behaving badly’ onto the world, and this time it’s the turn of Toronto City Council. To be fair, somebody was bound to slip up after an 11-hour Zoom meeting.

After a full day of back and forth with not much being agreed upon, Speaker Frances Nunziata decided to wrap things up, and said any outstanding business would be put off until April. When asked why so much business was being put off, a rogue staffer decided to answer for the speaker:

‘Because you can’t get your f**king s**t done.’

The plot thickened when the wrong man was blamed for the outburst. But because this is Canada and politeness is a national sport, the real culprit stepped forward and apologized for his ‘mistake’ – clearly he thought he’d been on mute.

Not one to take such an attack lying down, the speaker then accused council members of ‘being silly’ – a cutting barb if ever there was one. She also dismissed offers from others to take over the meeting. ‘I’m not having a hard time,’ she said, while visibly having a hard time.

The council ploughed on for another hour before finally admitting defeat and closing the meeting. Hopefully, they all headed straight for the nearest gin and tonic – it seems like they’d all earned it.
