A tornado caught on social media video hit India’s West Bengal, a state in eastern India, on Tuesday as Cyclone Yaas continued to hit the country.
According to reports, at least two people died that same day after a tornado snapped electricity lines and damaged 40 homes. It is unknown if they were killed by the same tornado caught on social media video.
Storm surges then inundated dozens of villages in eastern India on Wednesday after the cyclone moved inland from the Bay of Bengal, with officials saying thousands of mud homes in two coastal states were damaged and at least one person was killed.

In meteorology, a cyclone is a large scale air mass that rotates around a strong center of low atmospheric pressure. Cyclones are characterized by inward spiraling winds that rotate about a zone of low pressure and typically bring winds, rain, high waves and storm surges to the areas they pass.
In the Atlantic and the northeastern Pacific oceans, a tropical cyclone is generally referred to as a hurricane (from the name of the ancient Central American deity of wind, Huracan), in the Indian and south Pacific oceans it is called a cyclone, and in the northwestern Pacific it is called a typhoon.
