Richard Carapaz wins Tokyo Olympics men’s road race after Team GB rider Geraint Thomas withdrew following a crash.
It is only the second Olympic gold medal Ecuador have ever won.
Thomas was taken out by his GB team mate Tao Geoghegan Hart relatively early in proceedings and decided to pit as the peloton passed the Fuji Speedway race track for the first time.
