‘Time will tell’: Nicola Sturgeon hopeful after meeting with Rishi Sunak | Nicola Sturgeon tonight pleaded with Rishi Sunak for more cash for the NHS in Scotland after they met face-to-face for the first time since he became PM. The pair held talks as they both attended the British-Irish Council summit in Blackpool, Lancashire. The meeting was also attended by Wales’s First Minister Mark Drakeford and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, who both attended via video link. Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, was also present. Speaking after the meeting, Ms Sturgeon described their talks as ‘cordial and constructive’. She also took a swipe at Mr Sunak’s predecessor Liz Truss – who never met with her or even phoned her during her short time in No10. ‘It’s good to be able to sit down with the PM, as I used to do with Rishi Sunak’s predecessors and talk through issues we’re all grappling with,’ Ms Sturgeon added.
