  • FRANCE 24 English published this video item, entitled “Three-day ceasefire in Afghanistan ‘welcomed’ by sides despite deadly violence after midnight” – below is their description.

A three-day ceasefire is now underway in Afghanistan between government forces and the Taliban. The truce, in place to mark the Aid-el-fitr holiday, is only the fourth pause in fighting in nearly 20 years of conflict. The move was welcomed by both sides, but locals denounce its temporary effect, asking for a permanent ceasefire on social media, as bombings have killed dozens in recent days despite negotiations, as FRANCE 24’s Kabul correspondent Nanna Muus Steffensen reports.
