Thousands gathered in Amsterdam to protest against newly-Beijing condemns U.S. sanctions on Chinese officials lockdown measures in the Netherlands.

Dutch riot police used water cannons to disperse people at the unauthorized protest on January 17.

A second winter surge in cases prompted the local government to extend coronavirus restrictions by at least three more weeks, including the closure of schools and non-essential stores.
