Thousands protest amid global anger against COVID restrictions

Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Thousands protest amid global anger against COVID restrictions” – below is their description.

Tens of thousands of people in several European countries, including Greece, France and Italy, have protested against anti-COVID measures.

In Athens, Greek police tried to break up protests against compulsory COVID-19 vaccinations; some protesters threw petrol bombs and the police responded with tear gas.

The mood was the same in Paris where tear gas filled the air as protesters opposed to a government virus pass faced off against riot police.

The EU says 200 million Europeans have now been fully vaccinated – more than half of all adults – but that falls short of the 70-percent target set for the summer.

Al Jazeera’s Alexi O’Brien reports.
