South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Thousands of Indian farmers protest against market reforms as government talks fail to ease anger” – below is their description.
Indian farmers burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shouted slogans on November 28, 2020, as thousands of protesters blocked roads around the capital New Delhi including one of the nation’s busiest highways. They were protesting against new agricultural laws that passed in September, many fear that it will leave them at the mercy of big corporations. The legislations mean farmers are now free to sell their produce to anyone at any price, instead of selling to state-controlled markets at assured rates.
