    Tens of thousands have died in India’s coronavirus crisis, devastating many families and orphaning thousands of children. Before the pandemic, India faced huge child welfare challenges, which were further complicated by a slow and complex adoption system. Atiya Bose, the CEO of child protection NGO Aangan, tells The World the Indian government must provide more support to extended family members of recent orphans to help care for them.
