    Thousands of Australians have been forced to flee their homes after heavy rains caused some of the worst flooding in 100 years, with entire houses swept away by overflowing rivers.

    Emergency evacuation orders were imposed across many areas of New South Wales, on Australia’s east coast, as several days of downpours caused rivers to burst their banks.
