Thousands evacuated in India as torrential rains flood cities

Thousands of people were stranded and had to be evacuated by rescue teams in central and eastern India, after incessant heavy rains led to flooding with water entering houses and temples.

Flooding impacted Raipur, the capital city of central Chhattisgarh state, and similar scenes were witnessed in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh state as well, where heavy rains also destroyed crops along with flooding villages.
