Pro-Palestine demonstrators took to the streets of various cities around the world over the past week as violence between Hamas and Israel escalated.

“This isn’t an Arab issue, this isn’t a black and white issue, this is an issue for people. This is a human rights issue that needs to be solved as soon as possible,” said Mohammed Mahfouz, a protester in Los Angeles.

People in European cities like London and Berlin, as well as people in Middle Eastern cities like Amman and Sanaa chanted slogans such as “free Palestine!” and held Palestinian flags.

U.S. protesters in New York and Los Angeles called on the U.S. government to stop funding Israel, and to stop selling arms as dozens of children in Gaza have been killed in recent days.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was “determined” to continue his offensive on Gaza militants on Wednesday, after U.S. President Joe Biden urged him to seek a “de-escalation” on the path to a ceasefire.

Since the fighting began on May 10, Palestinian health officials say 228 people have been killed in aerial bombardments, while Israeli authorities put the death toll at 12 in Israel.
