Short sellers and long term holders. Tech stocks will no doubt continue to provide upside over the long term albeit with a few hicups along the way.
Transportation is an interesting sector to look at. Both Japan and Germany are in the midst of electoral campaigns that will have some influence on their industrial output moving forward. However the real interest broadly speaking is how speculators play the market on the Hybrid/EV front. There is no doubt that the absolute long term sustainability of a fully electrified transportation environment will be short lived. Society will simply not reverse its consumption trend to accomodate future energy needs. Any future energy supply mechanism will need to accomodate the growth of consumer spending and subsequent demand. As it stands world bodies seem to have put the apple cart before the horse which has been technology in this case. This horse has already bolted hence any reversal is simply unrealistic. The simple fact of the matter is that global energy providers now need to find the most efficient means of powering an ever increasing grid that will continue to plug more and more appliances into it as tech progresses further. The issue is not the degradation of the environment and peril due to climate change…the real issue is providing enough energy to power the market! Its about time the world woke up to the reality that renewables like wind and water are not sufficient to cater to this demand. Therefore the only real solution is for nuclear powered technology to be fully embraced. As taboo as the “n” word may be its the only viable long term prospect that will provide the growing energy demands of future generations. the underpinning of market volatility (systemic market risk) will continue to be played in the energy sector amongst the status quo however the 20 percent of solid earnings will be wisely invested in fusion which will not be prone to market risk per se as it fuels a necessity that is the back stop of the energy debate!
