‘There will never be another’: Tributes pour in for Dame Vera Lynn | ITV News

Dame Vera’s enduring impact on the nation was evident earlier this year when the Queen quoted the words from her most famous song “We’ll Meet Again” during her televised address near the start of the covid crisis.

The Prime Minister said today Dame Vera’s magical voice would ‘live on to lift the hearts of generations to come.’

While Katherine Jenkins – who sang with her many times – said there would ‘never be another Dame Vera Lynn.’

Katherine Jenkins OBE is a mezzo-soprano from Neath, Wales. Jenkins performs operatic arias, popular songs, musical theatre and hymns. Jenkins studied at the Royal Academy of Music, and came to wide public attention in 2003 when she sang at Westminster Cathedral in honour of Pope John Paul II’s silver jubilee. In both 2005 and 2006, her albums were awarded Album of the Year by the Classic Brit Awards.
