Xu Dan gave up the chance of pursuing a PhD in the Netherlands to help build China’s modern agriculture industry. When he was 29, he set up a modern glass greenhouse in Beijing’s suburban Miyun District, using technology and digital management to grow tomatoes and other vegetables. Fruitful results have been achieved thanks to his painstaking efforts over the past four years, which has offered job opportunities for seven villages nearby and attracted a large group of like-minded young people.
