On this episode of The West Block: Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough says the second wave of COVID-19 means that millions more Canadians could find themselves out of work. In an interview with West Block host Mercedes Stephenson, Qualtrough says Canada can avoid more lockdowns, but only if Canadians “dig in” and “work together” to plank the curve. Plus, Deputy Conservative Leader Candice Bergen speaks with Stephenson, blasting the Liberal government’s failure to deliver at-home COVID-19 tests. Bergen says the federal government still hasn’t proven to Canadians that it has a plan to respond to the health and economic effects of the pandemic. And finally, our host interviews the new leader of the Green Party of Canada, Annamie Paul. She is the first Black woman to permanently hold this position federally. They talk the need for more diversity in Canadian politics, COVID-19 and the upcoming byelection in her riding.
