7NEWS Australia published this video item, entitled “The Queensland ‘koala specialists’ keeping the beloved Aussie mammals well-fed | 7NEWS” – below is their description.
‘Koala specialist’ isn’t your average job title, but a small team at Queensland’s Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary dedicate their working hours to keeping the beloved Aussie animals well-fed.
The 50 koalas at Currumbin require a minibus full of gum leaves just to sustain them for one day, equivalent to about 16 wheelie bin loads. Thankfully, their carers know it’s all worth it.
“It’s really nice to watch them feast on those leaves and they kick back after you’ve worked so hard tirelessly all day and see them appreciate it. That’s their way of thanking us.” – Sarah Ecclestone, koala specialist.
